The forest in Chipley, Florida holds many different specifies of wildlife. Today I will be covering the amazing preserve that shelters the wild wolves both native and foreign to Florida. These wolves have been surrounded by humans all there lives and have adjusted to their presence. Which gives people a unique opportunity to actually interact with these gentle giants.
At Seacrest Wolf Preserve, people have a rare chance to surround themselves with these animals and learn in a controlled environment with professionals more about the creatures.
With the preserve being a fully fledged non-profit association they rely on the dedicated volunteers and employees to assist in keeping these animals safe.
Co-founder Cynthia Watkins main goal is to raise awareness to the community of the danger of having the wolves removed from the endangered species act.
The fact that laws that were considered illegal and cruel have been once again accepted by society. With these acts now permissible it leaves the species at risk for inhuman and cruel hunting techniques.
Of course, there are more than wolves at this location. You can see friendly raccoons, play with skunks, interact with foxes and meet Pecos the coyote.
So what can you actually do instead of just watch wolves? Well, you can first interact with them. The sanctuary is very careful with the animals and ensures the safety of both parties. With that wing said you can in many occasions take pictures and get up close with these large animals.
It’s an extra charge to experience the VIP tour experience which gives you up close interaction for the majority of your tour. However, consider that children under the age of 10 are unable to enter the enclosure there is a small animal adventure that is specially designed for young children.
Reservations are a must if you are looking for a tour walk-in are welcome for general admission but the best experience is with a tour it’s worth the money.
The tours include different wolf habitats from the Gray to Arctic wolves.
Tours are typically the longest on the weekend which can last a little over 4 hours.
For the VIP tour, you are looking at $250.00 a person with a minimum of two people per group. All VIP tours require a $250.00 deposit at the time you make the reservation. Visitors will pay the remaining balance once they arrive.
A steep price for a tour I understand. However, you get the treatment that comes with the package. You get the preserve is closed to the VIP group and no other visitors. You will receive one on one experiences with the animals in the preserve. Don’t forget your camera the volunteers and employees are more than happy to take pictures with you and the animals.
This location is a little more expensive than my typical recommendations but I have my reasons. This preserve works tirelessly to keep these animals safe and sounds to live healthier lives from poachers and hunters.
The money used for these tours and general admission go into funds to continue to help and strengthen their cause.
So if you have a day to spend with some furry friends take a trip to this preserve, its an experience you will never forget.
