Hidden Treehouse in Suwannee River Florida

Treehouses use to be a child’s greatest dream but that's far from the truth today. Young and old alike are trying to find ways to rebuild their childhood and experience what treehouse living is all about.

The tree house was built around a historically dubbed oak tree dated to be over 175 years old, nicknamed the Mother Tree.

It stands three stories with a deck, living area, sleeping loft built around the live oaks tree branches. One of the thicker branches actually runs through the treehouse instead of cutting the branch they built around the structure.

Now, this treehouse needed special attention to detail and craft to ensure it would stand for years to come.

The task was taken on by the dedicated members of DIY channels The Treehouse Guys LLC. Who aired the show showing the process and dedication to ensure it represents the community accurately.

Located in The Spirit of the Suwanee River Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. The Cornett Family has been hosting traditional bluegrass and other types of musical festivals near the river for over three decades.

Miss Jean, the matriarch of the family, was so inspired by the Suwannee River she dreamed to one day place a treehouse overlooking the waters. She was unable to see that day unfold but the treehouse stands as a testament to her childlike spirit.

Passing during the construction of the build a stain glass window was created to place a piece of herself in the treehouse forever.

What is there to do?

The treehouse is merely a way to fully immerse yourself in the history and culture of the Suwannee River. It is still a park and offers many outdoor activities. From Hiking, canoeing, swimming, and horseback riding your options are not limited.

Music Festivals – There are many held throughout the year they have a detailed schedule of who comes and plays throughout the year so if you see someone you know, or don’t. book the treehouse.

Abandoned Ruins - There are many abandon buildings across the Suwannee River. If you go by canoe or boat you can see one of the last standing bath houses against the river.

The bathhouse is in ruins at this point but it was once a popular travel destination. Clear, yellow-greenish water is pooled behind the wall and spills out through an opening at the base over limestone boulders into the tannic Suwannee River.

The bathhouse dates back from the 1800s as several where built around the sulfur springs.

Star Gazing – It sounds silly but it's a popular amenity at the river. The park is so large and with no large lights, the night sky glows.

The park recommends you to go to Adams Tracts River camp for the best view. It has less thick oak trees and offers a clear view of the sky,

The Suwannee River is opened all through the year only asking for $5.00 entrance fee to walk around and specifically rental prices if you need to borrow gear. It is worth the day to look around and spend the night in the treehouse.

It's a must-see for the inner child in all of us.
